Artist Statement

​

    My work is conceptual, centered around the human search for meaning through order, and the arbitrary nature of the order we create. I explore habits of organization that become codified and I look at futile attempts to control chaos and entropy in our environment, each other, and ourselves.  
    My process is play. I play with rules in the form of interventions that are often subversive, humorous, and absurd. I play with text, rearranging what is familiar, or placing text where it is unexpected. And I play with the mundane until it becomes surprising.
     My mediums run from works on paper with static electricity, to works with traffic cones, campaign signs, grocery bags, and jigsaw puzzles. Which is to say, I'll use anything in service of an idea.
