Antisocial Practice, 2015

While endlessly looking for parking, I became interested in reserved parking, a microcosm of privatizing a public space. In this iteration of parking signs, I created my own parking sign, and parking tickets to enforce it. (read the fine print)

Reserved For, 2016

The character traits that motivated my desire for my own parking spot reminded me the Seven Deadly Sins. I then created seven signs reserving parking for The Ruthless, The Self Indulgent, The Jealous, The Irresponsible, The Indifferent, The Insatiable, and The Intolerant (pictured,) my take on the evils of society.

I have also created a more positive spin on reserved parking that mirrors the Seven Heavenly Virtues creating signs for the generous, kind, brave, responsible, humble, wise, and fulfilled.  This intervention encourages us to think of the community at large even when making small choices.

Circle of Cones, 2016

37 traffic cones in various sizes and states placed around a traffic circle

At times I think of myself as endlessly driving in circles as I commute, going and returning to the exact same addresses.

Below is a view of the east side of a traffic circle where the cones are growing.

The photograph below shows the southwestern side view where the cones are dying and disintegrating. If you encountered this while driving you would notice a cemetery on this side (It was directly behind me as I took this photograph.)
